Visitors’ Service

Aarhus University’s Visitors’ Service is staffed by students employed by AU Communication. We have in-depth knowledge of the university in general, and we know what it means to be a student.

The Visitors’ Service offers free guided tours of the university. These are arranged according to the individual requests of visitors and can include:

  • a guided tour of selected buildings at the university and in the University Park
  • a general introduction to the university’s studies, history and architecture
  • snippets about life as a student

A typical tour takes from 60 to 90 minutes, but we can make it shorter or longer depending on what you would like to see. We recommend you to wear sensible walking shoes, as the distance covered is actually between two and four kilometres. You can also combine your tour with a visit to one of the university’s museums, including lunch or coffee in one of the canteens. However, you are personally responsible for organising this.

Any group can have a guided tour

Free guided tours are available for all interested groups (minimum five people), such as schools, associations, companies and clubs. The Visitors’ Service offers guided tours Monday to Friday between 08.00 and 17.00, and we can conduct tours in Danish or English. Contact AU Communication for more information.

Call, write, visit

Groups that would like a guided tour can book by contacting AU Communication or by filling in this form (available in Danish only). Please contact us well before the date requested for the tour. If your group consists of fewer than five people, please contact us for options regarding a guided tour.

New times at au.dk/en

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!

Take a short cut

Under the HOT KEY at the top right, you can find links to the most frequently used content on the website, as well as the two new universes for staff and students.

Where can I find it?

Use the new mega dropdowns to get an overview of the website’s content. They open when you run your mouse over the navigation at the top.
