Watch a silent movie showing the opening of Aarhus University’s first building in 1933
The University History Committee can now present a silent movie showing the opening of Aarhus University’s first building 75 years ago.
On 11 September 2008 it is 80 years since the institution known as University Teaching in Jutland started teaching students. And on the same day it is 75 years since King Christian X opened the first university building in Århus, on the site that developed into the University Park in Århus.
A film of this opening ceremony can now be seen on the University History Committee homepage.
The film was produced by the Århus film company Fotorama, and just a couple of days later it was shown to a cinema audience in Århus at Regina-Teatret – not as the main feature, but by way of introduction to the main film of the evening. It was reviewed in Aarhus Amtstidende on 14 September 1933.
The film lasts 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
