With his strong interest in and profound knowledge about education, Peter Østergaard has always worked to make teaching just as prestigious as research in academia.
“My new position will allow me to promote the best possible conditions for the learning processes which take place here. Our learning processes must be effective, contemporary and of a sufficient quality to ensure that the academic programmes we offer are of value to the individual student, the companies employing our graduates and organisations, as well as to society, both now and in the future,” says Peder Østergaard.
Peder Østergaard comes from a position as Vice-Dean, Director of Studies at the former Aarhus School of Business, where he has served since 2005 first as Dean for Education and since the merger with Aarhus University in 2007 as Vice-Dean, Director of Studies. He has been employed as an Associate Professor at Aarhus School of Business since 1994. Peder Østergaard also held a position at theAarhus University Institute of Business and Technology in Herning during 1981-1994 and completed his PhD degree at Aarhus School of Business concurrently with his full-time position in Herning.
According to Peder Østergaard, some of the most crucial objectives for Aarhus University and Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences will be to improve the conditions for collaboration across departments and research centres and to ensure a high level of professional competence in the entire range of degree programmes offered by the new main academic area.
It is also important to increase the visibility and value of the courses and degree programmes offered at Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences. Both existing and new programmes must be positioned nationally as well as internationally to meet the future challenges from competing institutions, upper secondary school and employers of our graduates.
As Vice-Dean of Education Peder Østergaard will, in collaboration with the boards of studies, be responsible for enhancing and developing the existing successful research-based degree programmes offered at Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences, He will also work on developing new programmes within his new main academic area and across the entire university.
