-“Prospects for the coming years are looking good for Aarhus University, and my role will be to establish research infrastructure and incentives that will ensure more external research funding at Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences,” says Per Baltzer Overgaard.
The new vice-dean has always taken a strong interest in research and talent development. During his time as head of the School of Economics and Management from 2006 until now, he placed particular emphasis on active recruitment of national and international faculty, quality development of PhD programmes, establishment of the International Master of Science in Quantitative Economics (IMSQE) and close collaboration with the strongest international research environments. The School of Economics and Management recently extended the contract with Nobel Laureate Dale Mortensen, who has been affiliated with the School for many years.
Dr Overgaard was appointed Head of Aarhus Graduate School of Social Sciences in 2009, where approximately 150 PhD students are currently enrolled. He started his studies in economics and management at Aarhus University in 1981, but continued his studies abroad. He holds an MA (Econ) from the Department of Economics at Warwick University (1986) in the UK and a PhD degree from CORE, Université Catholique de Louvain (1991) in Belgium.
During 2006-2010, Per Baltzer Overgaard served as a member of the Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences. He is currently part of the interdisciplinary research project ’Foundations of Electronic Markets’ as a researcher and co-grant holder. His primary research interests are the economics of information and contracting, auction theory, game theory, industrial organization, antitrust and regulation.
