Department of Geoscience
The department is identical to the current Department of Earth Sciences at NAT, and is assumed to continue to be located at Campus Aarhus.
There is a need to maintain and strengthen research-based education in geoscience, and because the new Department of Geoscience faces a major generational change, a targeted strengthening of the research field is required.
An international assessment of the academic activities at the department will be implemented, and this will provide the basis for drawing up an action plan to ensure the rational academic development and strengthening of the new department.
Public sector consultancy
The department will be able to contribute to public sector consultancy, especially regarding water-related issues.
Education
The department contributes considerably to lecturing at BSc and MSc levels, as well as PhD education.
Staffing
Approximately 90–100 members of staff (60–70 academic staff and 20–30 technical and administrative staff).
