CONDITIONS FOR ESTABLISHING WEB INFORMATION PAGES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AARHUS

In the event of any inconsistency between the Danish and English language versions of the document, the Danish version prevails

Rights

All employees and student organisations at The University of Aarhus have the right to establish a Web Home Page on one of the University`s Web Servers. Furthermore, institutions and organisations that are affiliated with the University may also establish Web Home Pages on one of the University`s servers. Students may esablish Web Home Pages whenever permitted to do so by the person responsible for the server to which the student has access.

Access to the Internet is permitted for information and assignments related to research and teaching, and for student organisation tasks that do not conflict with the rules for use of University resources.

All students and employees who have access to the University`s Internet, and thereby access for inserting information, must respect the following conditions:

Rules

  1. All information inserted via a Web server at The University of Aarhus must uphold Danish and international laws, including copyright laws ( e.g., in relation to reproduction of texts and photographs as well as the use of programmes) and penal laws ( e.g., injury, insult, incitement to break the law, racism, etc.)
  2. No commercial ventures may be undertaken neither must there be any advertisements for commercial ventures via the University`s Web servers unless the operation is related directly to the University and its activities.
  3. The University`s name and seal may be used only with regard to information that is directly related to the University`s activities. The University seal must not be altered or used in part.
  4. The University reserves the right to prevent access to the Internet whenever it is believed that its usage is damaging for the University`s reputation and activities, including usage that results in unnecessary overloading of the University`s network.

When access to the Internet is permitted, and thereby the possibility for inserting information, students must sign a declaration that they will uphold the conditions laid down for access to the network.

Sanctions

Surveillance will be carried out by persons responsible for the servers.

To start with, any infringement of the rules will result in the person concerned being requested to remove the information from the Web server. If the person responsible for the server finds that the information inserted is of such damaging character that it should immediately be removed without giving notice, then he/she may do this. Usage that infringes the conditions laid down may also lead to the following sanctions:

  • Temporary or permanent ban on use of the Internet.
  • Temporary or permanent ban on access to edb facilities.
  • Subjection to disciplinary rules for students (with expulsion being the ultimate sanction).
  • Subjection to official sanctions for employees (with dismissal being the utimate sanction)

Removal of the right of access to the Internet and edb facilities can be decided by the person responsible for the server concerned. Disciplinary sanctions will be carried out by the University leadership according to the general rules.

The responsibility for any criminal act or damage caused to the University`s network through unlawful use of personal Home Pages lies with the individual concerned. This can be enforced, e.g., by a report to the police from the University or from the wronged person.
