In 2007, the university had 35,427 students, 30,296 of whom were full-time students
and 5,131 of whom were part-time students, distributed among 74 Bachelor’s degree
programmes, 90 Master’s degree programmes and a considerable number of continuing
and further education programmes. Approximately 2,700 Bachelor’s degree students
and 2,800 Master’s degree students graduate from the university every year. In addition
in 2006, in the field of continuing and further education, the university had 4,215 feepaying
students. 754 individuals completed the part-time Master’s degree and diploma
degree programmes.

When a street photographer captured these three medical students, Robert Østergaard Jensen, Thomas Otto Iversen and Poul Schlütter (not to be confused with the later prime minister) at Store Torv in 1946, there was a total of 1064 students at the university; 856 men and 208 women. The distribution of these amongst the subjects available at that time was as follows: Arts 146, Medical Science 402, Economics 140, Law 210 and Theology 104, with a further 62 who had yet to choose a subject. On the teaching side in the same year there were 39 professors, 1 senior associate professor, 17 associate professors and teaching medical consultants, together with 51 from other categories, giving a total of 108 teachers.
