- Teaching: five indicators, including a researcher survey (30%)
- Citations: average number of citations per article (32.5%)
- Research: five indicators, including a researcher survey (30%)
- Internationalisation: proportion of international students and researchers; (5%)
- External research funding per researcher (2.5%)
Until 2009, Times Higher Education co-published the THE-QS university ranking with Quacquarelli Symonds, a company specialising in education and study abroad.
