Times Higher World University Ranking

The Times Higher Education ranking measures research, teaching and knowledge transfer. THE ranking is based on thirteen indicators divided into five categories:

  • Internationalisation: proportion of international students and researchers and the proportion of international co.-authorships in research publications; (7,5%)
  • Research: five indicators, including a researcher survey (30%)
  • Citations: average number of citations per article (30%)
  • Industry income per researcher (2.5%)
  • Teaching: five indicators, including a researcher survey (30%)

Until 2009, Times Higher Education co-published the THE-QS university ranking with Quacquarelli Symonds, a company specialising in education and study abroad.
