News from the Rector's Office No. 15/2010
Report on the academic development process
The final report detailing the conclusions of the two international education consultants Sachi Hatakenaka and Quentin Thompson is now available on the academic development process homepage. The report is based on over one hundred interviews with AU staff members, which took place during several visits to the university in the period October 2009 to early March 2009.
The recommendation submitted to the University Board by the Rector's Office will draw on the report, along with contributions from the 'family meetings', the working groups, the Main Liaison Committee, the student body, staff members and the academy councils. The recommendation from the Rector's Office will put forward proposals for the university's future overall structure and sketch out a roadmap for the coming stages of the development process, both with regard to practical organization and guiding principles.
Please note that all written comments submitted by Thursday 6 May will contribute to the presentation the Rector's Office will make at the Sandbjerg seminar of 25 - 26 May.

Special one-day lecture series on Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the German occupation of Denmark, Aarhus University and the Danish University Extension are hosting a one-day public lecture series on the influence of the occupation on Danish cultural life. The period from 1940 to 1945 occupies a special place in 20th century Danish history. Aarhus University is therefore pleased to present such a compelling programme. The lecture series will open with short talks by Germany's ambassador to Denmark, Johann Christoph Jessen, and the Pro-Rector of Aarhus University, Søren E. Frandsen.
The programme includes researchers from Aarhus University and elsewhere, from a range of fields. Topics will include testimony from Danish survivors of concentration camps, the experiences of Danish women in the Third Reich, and the Danish jazz scene during the occupation.
