Climate initiative
Issues relating to the climate constitute a major focus area for the Danish Government, as evidenced by the Government platform. The University of Aarhus is already involved in many activities related to this area, and the rectorate has appointed a climate group represented by all the main academic areas. The objectives of the group include coordinating, developing and highlighting these activities, as well as ensuring a synergy effect that spans the main academic areas. The group’s first meeting is scheduled for early December.
A “business card” from the University of Aarhus is being prepared for the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali, which begins on 3 December. The university has also entered into a collaborative agreement with the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark.
Development contract
The development contract will be presented for approval at the University Board meeting on 20 December. The draft has been very well received by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The contract is very concise and covers the period 2008–2010. The specific milestones and goals were determined in collaboration with the main academic areas.
New design line
The university has entered into an agreement with the 1508 A/S design agency to develop a new visual identity. This will reflect the new University of Aarhus, as well as providing a unifying identity that can illustrate the university as an umbrella for the institutions it now incorporates.
A design guide is expected to be launched next spring.
Kind regards
The rectorate
