Rectorate News

No. 5, 11 December 2007

The rectorate publishes Rectorate News every Tuesday – apart from holidays and public holidays. This newsletter includes a brief description of current activities and discussions. You can sign up for the newsletter at http://info.au.dk/medarbbreve, after which you will receive an e-mail whenever Rectorate News is issued.

The English version of Rectorate News is available every Wednesday at http://www.au.dk/en/uni/rectorate/newsletter.

Internationalisation

The rectorate has decided to initiate an investigation into which degree programmes conducted in English will be given priority in the future and act as a flagship for the University of Aarhus at a time when the market is growing as regards international education, student mobility, etc. The investigation will be carried out by Tim Rogers, an external consultant, during the early months of 2008. More details will be sent to the areas concerned. The rectorate is working on setting up a special think tank to cover this topic because internationalisation is such an important focus area.

Faculty strategies

Concurrently with the development of the university’s overall strategy, all faculties/main academic areas have been working on their own strategies. They have each now submitted a 5-page resumé of the work to date, and this will be presented to the University Board at its last meeting for the year on 20 December. The university’s development contract with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the budget for 2008 will also be finalised at this meeting.

Meeting for the administrative staff in Central Administration

Be sure to remember the meeting for administrative staff to be held on 13 December at the School of Education (DPU). The meeting will be streamed to members of staff who are unable to take part. You can follow the presentation from about 12 noon on the university’s web site at http://www.au.dk/da/nyheder/arrangementer/2007/131207.

Kind regards
The Rectorate
