Danish University Extension

The rectorate’s management pool will also provide the Danish University Extension (Folkeuniversitetet) with support in future. The University Extension will receive max. DKK 750,000 in support in its two terms in 2008. This support will be provided as long as a considerable number of staff members and alumni continue to make use of the offer to take part in programmes without participant payment. In the autumn, staff members and alumni accompanied by a guest can attend one series of lectures free of charge. During the spring term, the University Extension held a series of lectures for the first time at the Danish School of Education (DPU) in Emdrup. Approximately 1,400 people turned up at DPU and enjoyed 25 series of lectures.

Times Higher Education

The time has come for the annual data capture for the World University Rankings 2008. The rectorate has appointed a small group of technicians consisting of staff from the Rector’s Office, the Personnel Office, the Financial Planning Office and the University Studies Office, led by Mads Bøndergaard Kobbersmed ( mbk@adm.au.dk ). This group will gather data that must be submitted to Times Higher Education by 30 June at the latest. Each main academic area will be asked to appoint a person to be responsible for both the ranking and contact with the group of technicians.

Pro-rector

Pro-rector Søren E. Frandsen takes up his position on Monday 2 June. A reception will be held for him following the rector’s summer speech on 19 June in the Lakeside Lecture Theatre in Aarhus. An introduction programme is being drawn up for Søren to come round to the main academic areas and other working partners.
