Follow-up of the management seminar

As mentioned in the last edition of Rectorate News, the half-yearly management seminar was held at the Sandbjerg Estate on 13–14 August. The rectorate feels it was a fruitful seminar, which contributed very well to the ongoing work.
One of the main themes was “quality policy in the area of education”. Discussions at the seminar will be followed up at the quality conference on 21 August. The Study Committee will subsequently incorporate input from the management seminar and the conference into the quality policy presentation to be considered by the Board later this autumn.
The other main theme was “the administrative change process”. External presentations and discussions at the seminar will make up part of the ongoing work that can be followed at www.au.dk/da/politik/strategi/admforandring

Cheminova

A little Olympic gold dust to the University of Aarhus

Danes with an interest in the Olympic Games experienced an historic event last Sunday when the Danish 49er was involved in a major drama in the Olympic sailing competition. This included a broken mast just prior to the start, a brilliant lightning decision to borrow the Croatian boat, and a dramatic race followed by a nerve-racking waiting period of several hours while the jury considered the protests it had received. It all ended when Jonas Warrer and Martin Kirketerp were awarded gold medals. The two sailors are studying political science and law, respectively, at the University of Aarhus. The rectorate hopes that some of the shine from the gold medals will rub off on the university, and we send our heartiest congratulations on winning gold after such a heroic effort!
