Board meeting in Foulum

The meeting is scheduled for 20 February. The Board would like to visit the new parts of the University of Aarhus during the course of this year. A visit was paid to the Aarhus School of Business in autumn 2007.

Internationalisation

Arne Carlsen, Director for International Affairs at the Danish School of Education, has been appointed by the Rectorate to spearhead the work involved in planning a strategy for the future international activities at the University of Aarhus. A task force will be set up at the same time with Rector Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen as Chairman.

Strengthening the PhD programmes

Heads of the graduate schools in the main academic areas at the University of Aarhus are currently participating in a benchmarking project regarding the university’s PhD programmes. This is part of a joint benchmarking project with the universities in Bergen, Gothenburg, Kiel and Turku. To strengthen in-house collaboration at the University of Aarhus regarding PhD programmes, the heads of the graduate schools will in future make up a permanent working group under the university’s Research Committee.

Notice regarding new pro-rector position

The vacant position of Pro-rector for Knowledge Transfer is advertised, and the deadline for applications is 3 March. The appointment procedure will be same as last time, including an advisory committee with representatives from the main academic areas. The aim is that the new pro-rector will be appointed at the Board meeting on 28 April and commence duties on 1 June 2008.

Position as Head of Information Technology

The Rectorate has decided to advertise a position as Head of IT for the entire University of Aarhus. The person in question will lead the management of the programme and work involved in ensuring the implementation of the future IT organisation and joint IT systems. The new position and the organisational consequences will be discussed by Danske Universiteter (Danish Universities), a collaborative organisation of the 8 Danish universities.

Kind regards

New times at au.dk/en

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!

Take a short cut

Under the HOT KEY at the top right, you can find links to the most frequently used content on the website, as well as the two new universes for staff and students.

Where can I find it?

Use the new mega dropdowns to get an overview of the website’s content. They open when you run your mouse over the navigation at the top.
