International Club turns 10
Throughout the last decade, the International Club (IC) has provided a social and cultural meeting place for the university’s foreign staff and their companions. Foreign members of staff who are not accompanied by their partners/spouses are also welcome to come and meet foreign guests in an informal atmosphere.
Every term, the IC offers a series of weekly lectures that deal with current social or historical topics. The aim of these events is to help international members of staff (with or without their families) to adjust to their new way of life in Denmark. In addition to the scheduled activities, the club provides help for virtually everything necessary to promote the integration process. Such assistance includes contacting public authorities, finding a doctor, helping with schools, kindergartens or educational institutions, jobs, language training (the so-called language partners) and much more. The IC’s activities take place in Aarhus ( Faculty Club, building 1421 ), and participation is free of charge.

September meetings with the main academic areas
The rectorate has held the so-called September meetings with all nine main academic areas. These meetings lasted four hours each and took place at the individual main academic areas. It has been very useful engaging in extended dialogue with the main academic areas about relevant subject-related topics. This round of meetings will be evaluated at the next meeting of the deans. A round of budget meetings between the rectorate and the main academic areas is scheduled for November.
Internationally recognised award named after Bo Gregersen
On 3 June 2008, Bo Gregersen, Director of Study Administration and International Relations at the Aarhus School of Business (ASB), died after a long period of illness. An internationally recognised award has now been named after him.
The prize is awarded by the EAIE, European Association for International Education. This international award, now called the Bo Gregersen Award for Best Practice, will be presented each year to those people who have made significant efforts to establish internationalisation in the area of education. The organisation behind the award – the EAIE – is described as being the hub of internationalisation in the area of education.

THE’s ranking released on 9 October
The rectorate is anxiously looking forward to the annual Times Higher Education ranking, to be published on 9 October. As is already well known, AU was placed in the top 100 in the Shanghai Ranking earlier this year.
Kind regards
