Rectorate News
No. 37, 4 November 2008
The following topics were discussed at the meeting of the deans on Monday 3 November:
September meetings
The so-called September meetings – where the rectorate visited the nine main academic areas and discussed strategy and other academic subjects – were evaluated. Minutes of each meeting have been drawn up and sent to the main academic areas. An overview of the interdisciplinary topics has also been prepared, and the rectorate and the circle of deans will work with this in the forthcoming period. The overview is available (in Danish only) here.
Budget negotiation meetings
As previously mentioned, budget negotiation meetings between the rectorate and each of the nine main academic areas will be held in November. The Financial Planning Office will also attend these meetings. As usual, the challenge facing the work on the university’s budget is that the parliament has not yet completed negotiations regarding the Danish budget for 2009. AU and Universities Denmark are trying to influence the budget negotiations as much as possible.
Board meeting
The next Board meeting is on 10 November, and will be held at NERI in Roskilde. The agenda is available (in Danish only) here.
Evaluation of the annual celebration
AU’s annual celebration 2008 has been evaluated. Experience from this year will naturally be incorporated into the work involved in planning the annual celebration for 2009, which has gradually been initiated by the rectorate. In 2009, the annual celebration will be held on the very “birthday” itself – Friday 11 September. More information will be made available well before the event. The rectorate is working on making enough room available for more members of staff to take part. Great interest was shown by the staff this year, but there was unfortunately only enough room for about 400 people to take part, which was less than half of the number signed up.
Kind regards
