AU’s University Year Book discontinued

The rectorate has decided that the University Year Book for 2007 will be the last of its type. The 2007 edition has just been issued in printed form and will very soon be available at http://www.au.dk/da/arsberet.htm

This used to function as an internal report at AU, as well as providing the ministries and working partners with information. Since 1993, the University Year Book has been published in printed form as well as an electronic version on the AU website. However, progress has now made this obsolete. Reporting to the ministries, etc. takes place first and foremost via the University Annual Report , where AU accounts for events in the year that has passed, in terms of finances, key figures and particular focus areas. AU has concurrently begun issuing publications such as Facts and Figures and the Aarhus University profile brochure. Because of the long production time connected with the printed version of the University Year Book , the Internet has finally taken over as a source of information.

The rectorate has decided to stop compiling the University Year Book because the necessary efforts involving the main academic areas and the central administration are not considered to equal the usefulness of the publication. In conjunction with preparing the University Annual Report for 2008, the rectorate will contemplate how to ensure the best possible reporting and highlighting of research results, etc. In this respect, the main academic areas should play a significant role and be involved in the process.

Kind regards
The Rectorate
