U-days 2008

On Thursday 28 and Friday 29 February, a considerable number of educational institutions in Aarhus held u-days for the fourth time. This event is based on the Danish word uddannelsesdage , which means “education days”.

The positive feedback from the faculties indicates that approximately 3,000 people with enquiries about their future education made their way to the numerous arrangements offered by the university.

The Faculty of Science extended the u-days to include Saturday as well – a new feature this year, which was very well received. About 200 visitors turned up on the open day on Saturday, with an even distribution of people with educational enquiries, their families and other interested members of the general public. The new BSc in agriculture, foods and environment – offered by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences – was also presented during the u-days and was positively received.

For several years, a regular feature of the u-days has been free transport provided by the urban buses in Aarhus and the Arriva trains in and out of the city. Transport facilities were further extended this year by 11 free buses providing return trips from all over Jutland and Funen. These special free bus routes were managed and paid for by the Campus Aarhus collaboration, which consists of a number of educational institutions in Aarhus, including the University of Aarhus.

To all colleagues who took part in the work involved in the u-days, we would like to extend our sincere thanks for your capable efforts.

Request to mention the University of Aarhus

The rectorate calls on all members of staff to try to ensure that the University of Aarhus is mentioned whenever you appear in the media. The best possible solution is to name both your specific workplace (e.g. main academic area, institute, centre or department) and the University of Aarhus itself. The rectorate is aware that this is not always possible because the media often cut their presentations short.

Kind regards

The Rectorate

New times at au.dk/en

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!
