AUFF rewards bright ideas

The Aarhus University Research Foundation (AUFF) is inviting researchers to the second round of the AU IDEAS programme, which helps AU researchers realise innovative research ideas.

DKK 50 million in research funding is available, and researchers can either apply for support for the establishment of a pilot centre or for project development funding. The purpose of pilot centres is to test the viability of an idea for a research centre over a period of three to five years. The purpose of pilot development grants is to test the viability of ideas for new research fields and methods over a period of one to two years. In the first round of AU IDEAS, 15 pilot centres and 30 development projects were initiated in 2011.

The deadline for applications is 28 May 2013 for projects to be launched in January 2014.

AU Herning gets departmental status on 1 April

The School of Business and Social Sciences will consist of seven departments when AU Herning officially attains department status on 1 April.

Until now, AU Herning has been termed a 'department-like centre', but this is now being changed to signal that work in Herning takes place within all four of the university's core activities: research, talent development, knowledge exchange and education.

Pilot project offers more possibilities for talented students

After the summer vacation, a pilot project involving the most talented and motivated students on the Bachelor's degree programmes in nanoscience and physics will be launched. The project is an example of how to offer such students extra challenges and stimulation.

The pilot project stems from the objective of coupling strong research-based study programmes with extra study activities for the most talented students, which is one of the three main strategic priorities in Aarhus University's strategy for 2013-2020.

The project focuses on the fact that, as a result of the increased admissions at Danish universities in recent years, the students' talents point in several different directions, and that the PhD programmes are not necessarily right for everyone.

Registration for DHL Relay Race now open

Aarhus University is again participating in the DHL Relay Race, and registration for this year's event is now open.

In 2013, the DHL Relay Race is taking place on the following dates:

  • Odense, Thursday 15 August
  • Aarhus, Thursday 22 August
  • Copenhagen, Thursday 29 August

In Aarhus and Odense, it is possible to register for both a run and a walk. The deadline for registering is Thursday 4 April at 24.00.
