AU gears organisation for more business cooperation

Five business committees will ensure a better framework for collaboration between researchers, students and businesses.

New four-year agreement on AU’s public-sector consultancy services in place

A new framework agreement on research-based public-sector consultancy has been concluded between Aarhus University and the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark. The agreement, which has a total value of approx. DKK 380 million, lays down the overall framework for the public-sector consultancy to be delivered by Aarhus University over the next four years. Among other things, the agreement ensures greater clarity about the conditions governing publication of ST’s research-based public-sector consultancy as well as confidentiality clauses.

Elite Research Prize for AU researcher

One elite researcher and three research talents from Aarhus University were among the recipients of this year’s Elite Research Prizes which were presented at a ceremony at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen on 23 February.

Professor Hanne Christine Bertram from the Department of Food Science received the Elite Research Prize in recognition of her pioneering contributions to Danish research. Johannes Christensen from the Department of Mathematics, William Joyce from the Department of Bioscience and Tobias Skiveren from the School of Communication and Culture received Elite Research travel grants.

Changing of the guard on the Student Council

Economics student Emil Outzen is the new chairman of the Student Council, while political science student Hanna-Louise Schou Nielsen is the new vice-chair. For the past year, they have both served on the executive committee, which will at the same time be welcoming four new members.

The members of the executive committee were elected by the Joint Student Council at its inaugural meeting on Thursday last week. The Student Council executive committee consists of seven student politicians, who are in charge of the day-to-day management of the Student Council and the political work.

A reception will be held on 3 March to mark the transition.

Inauguration of new hospital in Skejby

Aarhus University participated in the inauguration by Central Denmark Region of the new hospital in Skejby. The new hospital complex makes Central Denmark Region an even stronger centre for modern patient treatment and medical research and education.

The ribbon was cut by Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Chairman of the Regional Council Bent Hansen. Rector Brian Bech Nielsen was also among the speakers. Among other things, he highlighted the coherence ensured through the close cooperation between Aarhus University and the hospital – shortening the path from research to treatment.

Record-breaking turnout for CompanyDATING event

Last Thursday’s CompanyDATING event once again drew a full house as Aarhus BSS Career & Alumni welcomed a total of 44 companies and 800 students to speed-dating about specific jobs and cooperation projects. This is the largest number of businesses to have registered for a stand since 2009.

Arts Karriere is holding a similar event on 2 March. Here, 22 businesses will have the chance to meet face to face with 300 of the registered students at Arts.

The widespread use of CompanyDATING is a good example of how Aarhus University is working to forge closer contact between students and the labour market.

University Director presents the administration’s 2017 objectives

University Director Arnold Boon presents the administration’s strategic objectives for 2017. The focus is on initiatives centring on the needs of the academic units. Among other things, how the administration can help the academic units to attract more external grants, improve the career paths for early-career researchers and facilitate the timetabling of teaching activities and examinations.

VIA is new partner to agreement with Aarhus University and Central Denmark Region

New partnership agreement will ensure continued high quality in healthcare services. The agreement between VIA, Aarhus University and Central Denmark Region is designed to ensure greater coherence and coordination between education, research and development. The municipalities will also be involved.

Apply for microfunding grants from AUFF

The Aarhus University Research Foundation (AUFF) is now offering microfunding grants for 2017. A total pool of DKK 200,000 will be available for microfunding, with each grant amounting to DKK 25,000.

DHL Relay Race 2017 open for registration

True to tradition, Aarhus University is participating in the DHL Relay Race. Register now – the deadline for registration is 5 May.
