Evaluation of the university sector 2009

Aarhus University's response to the international evaluation panel's report

On Tuesday 19 January 2010, Aarhus University submitted its response to the international evaluation panel’s report. The response draws on a range of internal responses from the main academic areas at the university. All of the relevant documents can be found in the right-hand menu.

Along with a number of responses, the international evaluation panel's report will serve as a resource in coming political discussions and negotiations on university policy.

The Danish Government recently decided to conduct an evaluation of the university area. This is partly in the light of the mergers that took place in recent years, and also because of the University Act of 2003, with changes to the forms of management (from elected to appointed management and the introduction of boards with “external” members). In this connection, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation requested the universities to provide their input. The evaluation itself will be undertaken by an international panel appointed by the Ministry. The universities’ input regarding topic A-D was submitted to the Ministry on 22 April 2009 and the input regarding topic E was submitted on 25 May 2009.

New times at au.dk/en

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!
