The process at Aarhus University
Input to the university’s report came from three sources:
- Input from the main academic areas. The Vice-Chancellor’s Office launched a process in which the academy councils, the boards of studies, and the deans and heads of departments in all the main academic areas were encouraged to initiate dialogue and debate regarding the topics covered by the evaluation. The aim was to provide the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with input for its report to the Ministry. Student organisations and the Main Liaison Committee were also requested to take part.
- Focus group interviews with participants from all main academic areas.
- A digital brainstorm on the university’s website, in which all students and members of staff had an opportunity to take part.
In addition, all the main academic areas contributed with key figures and other data for use in section A about the mergers.
On 22 April 2009, Aarhus University submitted its report to the Ministry, but expects the debate about the University Act to continue throughout the year.
The process was coordinated by a steering group.
