Technician position in neuroscience lab at DANDRITE, Aarhus University

A full-time position as a laboratory technician at DANDRITE, Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience, is available at Aarhus University and offered with employment as soon as possible. The position is initially limited to two years.

The workplace
The work will take place at DANDRITE at the Department of Biomedicine. The research group is led by Keisuke Yonehara, and the research is generally focusing on obtaining an understanding of the visual nervous system function and development and the brain's processing of visual impressions. Research in DANDRITE is a collaboration between researchers involved in the main academic areas Health and Science and Technology.

Areas of responsibility
The main aim of this position is to support the scientific activity of researchers and students in the lab.
Main task is to run the administrative work associated with the laboratory's daily operations: Key responsibilities include ordering equipment and materials, preparing common buffer and solution, organizing shipment of materials between institutes, doing autoclaving and taking part in the cleaning of the labs.
In the laboratory work will entail general molecular biology (including PCR and molecular cloning), cell culture and production of viral vectors.
In the laboratory, mice are the main tool to identify visual nervous system function and development mechanisms. And work with laboratory mice will be part of daily work. It is therefore mandatory that you have or acquire Laboratory Animal course.

We are looking for a person, who is happy to communicate and work with Danish and international colleagues, researchers, and students in a multi-cultural environment.

• Laboratory Technician Education or equivalent
• It is an advantage if you have experience with working in a research laboratory at a university
• It is an advantage if you have previous experience working within the above tasks and responsibilities
• The working language is English, and it is therefore a requirement that you can commit yourself safe in English in speech and writing
• It is an advantage if you can speak and write Danish
