Technician supporting the new DIGIT Centre at Department of Engineering, Aarhus University 934229

The Department of Engineering at Aarhus University are currently expanding the team of researchers and technical staff. In connection to the establishment of the new Centre for Digitalization, Big Data and Data Analytics (DIGIT) and a number of additional innovation projects assisting companies to become “smarter” in their development of new products, the Department of Engineering seeks a technician to contribute to development and management of experimental facilities as well as executing and documenting experimental tests.

The position is permanent and the place of work is at Katrinebjerg. The position is available as soon as possible.

Department of Engineering (, within the faculty of Science and Technology (ST) Denmark promotes and develops Engineering research and education at Aarhus University. Department of Engineering is a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with many national and international collaborators in science and industry. DIGIT includes collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science.

Department of Engineering has a strategic focus on digitalization, which undoubtedly expand widely globally the coming decades. Denmark needs to be a pioneer country for proactively use digitalization in order to overcome potential disruption from other countries and companies. In order to ensure Denmark to be in front in the area the Department of Engineering has a strong focus on this research area.

The chosen candidate will play an active role in developing applied research within digitalization engineering research at Aarhus University. The candidate will be a part of a coordination team working with different aspects including cyber-physical systems, smart products, machine learning, big data analytics, internet of things and cyber-security. The main tasks for the candidate will be to:
  • Contribute to project management tasks of coordinating different researchers in a multidisciplinary team and communication with researchers and industry.
  • Ensure continuity of tools developed at Aarhus University (e.g., Overture, Crescendo, Symphony and INTO-CPS) from one research project to the next.
  • Take an active part in different research projects where the necessary skills are lacking.
The ideal candidate has research experiences in multiple of the research areas mentioned above in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualification requirements
  • PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research collaboration also between academics and industrial stakeholders.
  • Experience in the development of tools supporting formal models.
  • Structured and systematic approach to supporting coordination management tasks.
  • An open mind and good communications skills.
