2 Year Postdoctoral position on “Human Pluripotent Stem Cells and Parkinson’s Disease”
Research Area and Project Description
A funded two-year postdoctoral position is available from February 2016, in Mark Denham’s research group where human induced pluripotent stem cells and genome editing technologies are used to develop in vitro models of Parkinson’s disease. We combine cell reprogramming, genome engineering, lentiviral gene delivery and stem cell differentiation techniques to study the cellular changes associated with Parkinson’s disease.
The purpose of the postdoc is to develop an in vitro model of Parkinson’s disease and to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the pathology by single cell sequencing techniques.
Qualifications and Specific Competences
We are looking for an outstanding scientist who has a strong background in human pluripotent stem cell biology. Applicants must have a PhD degree (in neurobiology or equivalent) or have submitted their PhD thesis for assessment before the application deadline. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in single cell sequencing techniques and in molecular biology. The supervisor is Nordic EMBL Group Leader/Associate Professor Dr. Mark Denham.
