Associate Professorship(s) in Engineering at Department of Business Development and Technology, Aarhus BSS 940764

The Department of Business Development and Technology at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for associate professorship positions in the following fields:
 
1. Industrial engineering – product development processes
 
-Central theories and approaches of product development processes, innovation theory, applied innovation management
-General cyberphysical systems design, general mechatronic design
-Quantitative and qualitative creative processes
-Computer simulation of product and production processes
-Relationships between manufacturing and product development
 
2. Engineering management – collaborative processes in a digital context
 
-Collaborative engineering – systems, approaches and organizations, strategic issues 
-Product and production systems, portfolio perspectives
-Modularity, integrated processes, distributed engineering and manufacturing networks
-Digital collaborative platforms for project execution, knowledge sharing, design, and production enablement
-APQP, PPAP, ISO9001, smart buying, early supplier involvement
 
3. Processes of engineering management: projects, quality, compliance, conduct
 
-Project management practices
-Quality and compliance systems, social responsibilities
-Integrative approaches of engineering work practices: Collaboration, competencies, learning, heterogeneous teams
-Business elements of engineering: Design for cost, design for manufacturing, design for X, engineering cost drivers 
-Digital elements for (support of) cross-cutting processes of engineering
 
4. The digital enterprise
 
-ERP/MDM/PDM/PLM/MES/SCADA/BI systems
-Cyberphysical systems, information systems in production systems
-Information systems studies
-Digital and virtual product development of integrating production and operational systems
-Enabling approaches within new product introduction, supply chain integration, continuous improvement for both physical and digital products
 
An associate professorship is a full-time and permanent position starting on 1 August 2018 or as agreed upon.
 
Job description
The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the department’s research and teaching environment. At the department, there is a strong focus on research collaborations with business and society, and the applicant is expected to take an active role in these activities. Applicants with research activities involving businesses and society will be preferred. 
 
The applicant is expected to teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level. Our teaching programs include a MSc in Technology Based Business Development and two Bachelor degree programs: Business Development Engineer (BDE) and Global Management and Manufacturing (GMM)
 
The applicant is expected to conduct research of the highest international standard, which contributes to the development of the academic field.
 
Qualification requirements
Applicants must possess and document significant research qualifications and teaching skills corresponding to those obtained after successful completion of an assistant professorship, but equivalent academic qualifications may also be acceptable. 
 
Applicants are requested to provide measures of research output according to the Danish Bibliometric Research Indicator (i.e. level 1 and 2). Other measures of research production and quality such as an H-score, citation-index etc. from a recognized source may also be stated.
 
Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is linked to businesses and society. This description could describe concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities etc. 
 
Permanent employment as associate professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course and also the course Blended Learning – Go Online provided by Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If the candidate has not completed the courses before commencement of employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five year period.

The Department of Business Development and Technology is a satellite department of Aarhus University located in Herning. The department excels in business and engineering disciplines and pays particular attention to collaborations with business and society. The department has around 1,700 students. The appointment is in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State .
