Two-year postdoc position in cattle behaviour and precision livestock farming 960698

At the Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, a postdoc position is available starting on August 15, 2018.
 
Working area
We seek a candidate with a strong background in behaviour and precision livestock farming in dairy cattle. The candidate will be working on precision livestock farming projects and should focus on how changes in behaviour of dairy cattle may be used to predict the status of dairy cows.  The candidate need to have some understanding of technology and be familiar with handling of larger datasets.

Besides creating a strong research basis the candidate has to perform both teaching, supervision of students and research-based consultancy for the public sector.
 
Qualifications
• Experience in designing experiments, data handling, data analysis and project management
• Experience in cattle behaviour and automatic measures of dairy cow behaviour
• Experience in work with new technology
• Good international network within the field of cattle science
• Academic qualifications at PhD level in applied ethology or related field
• Previous experience as a post-doctoral researcher
• Documentation of excellent skills within the research area
• Good skills in communication of research results internationally as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations
• Experience in supervising students and teaching at a high academic level

The place of work is Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
