Who is AU IT?
AU IT is the primary agent in the area of information technology at Aarhus University. Headed by Deputy Director of IT Flemming Bøge, AU IT was created by the merger of a number of central and decentral it offices.
An IT strategy has been developed for Aarhus University, to facilitate the over-all aims of the university strategy, and to further the intentions of the administrative change process. Subsequently, a two-year IT action plan starting medio 2010 has been deviced.
Aarhus University has adopted a management model for IT development projects, according to which the IT Forum treats and proposes an overall prioritisation of project proposals, based on a structured model. The IT Forum administers the complete project portfolio.
Development and IT projects
The Development Section at AU IT takes care of the continued development and maintenance of a number of joint university IT systems. In addition, an integration platform is developed with the aim to ensure a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), according to principles laid down by the National IT and Telecom Agency.
Besides this, AU IT is involved in a large portfolio of projects with goals ranging from the enhancement of the communications infrastructure to the development of websites. See the IT project overview here.
Infrastructure
AU IT is responsible for the planning, development, and operation of a growing part of the university ICT infrastructure. This goes for carrier networks (WAN, wireless LAN), as well as telephony. Disruptions to normal operations are reported on Operating Status.
