Application process for international exchange students wishing accommodation in Herning via AU Housing

Before starting your housing application please make sure to read the full Terms and Conditions for the AU Housing service.

The housing application process for international exchange students is in fact integrated into the application form called 'Application form for exchange students' for being an international exchange student. This application form can be found via the self-service portal mit.au.dk.

Create a self-service account or log in to your existing self-service account

  1. To access the form 'Application form for exchange students' you must either create a new self-service account via mit.au.dk or, if you already have an account, use your login details to access it.

Application form for exchange students

  1. After logging in, you can find the 'Application form for exchange students' under the heading 'Applications'. Click on it to start your application for your exchange period, and subsequently also your housing application. 
  2. Once you have filled in most of the application you will come to a section titled "Housing", where you will be asked one simple question, which is whether you would like AU Housing to arrange housing for you during your stay. 
  3. If you click 'yes', then two additional elements will pop up. If you have already filled in the rest of the application then the box 'Housing period' will already be filled in. Thereafter, all you need to do is read and accept (by ticking the box) the Terms and Conditions for housing.
    If you click 'no', then you can proceed to the next section and you will not be offered any housing by AU Housing.
  4. You should now save this section and continue to the last section, after which you should submit your completed application.
  5. You will receive an email confirmation for your submitted application.

Housing offer 

  1. If you have applied before the 1st of May (for the autumn semester) or the 1st of November (for the spring semester), then you are guaranteed to receive a housing offer via email. 
  2. Through this email you will gain access to the Housing reservation system, where you need to either confirm or decline your housing offer within 2 days of receiving the email. It is therefore very important for you to regularly check your email.
  3. If you want to confirm your housing offer, press the 'confirm' button.

Payment

  1. When you have pressed the 'confirm' button, you will be directed to the payment page, where you will be asked to pay the first month's rent with a credit card. For your information, a security deposit will be charged later on together with the second month's rent. Additionally, it is important to remember, for future payments, that it is only possible to pay your rent through our online payment system using a credit card.
  2. When you have paid the first month's rent you will receive a receipt of your payment. Please notice that your housing reservation is not valid before you have paid the first month's rent and received a receipt. 
  3. Make sure that you have read the full Terms and Conditions of the AU housing service, which includes relevant information, such as the cancellation policy.

Contract & Key

You can pick up your key and leasing contract at the Reception, BTECH, Birk Centerpark 15, 7400 Herning. Office hours Monday-Thursday from 8am to 2pm, Friday from 8am to 12.30noon. However, we always suggest that you contact Heidi Maibritt Trampedach Larsen - heidi@btech.au.dk to make an appointment for picking up your keys and leasing contract. If you arrive outside office hours you need to arrange short term accommodation yourself.
