Top Tips - a quick overview
The following information is intended to inform you of some of the most important things that you should do and/or be aware of in relation to housing in Aarhus.
It is a summary of the information that you can find via the AIAS Fellows housing portal.
Be Flexible
- We will do everything we can to help you find the right accommodation. However, due to high demand for housing in Aarhus it may be necessary to, for instance, live just a little further away from campus than you had wanted - don't worry Aarhus is small and quick to get around.
Be Proactive
- The early bird gets the worm, as they say. Again, as a result of high demand for housing it is important that you contact landlords as soon as possible if there is an apartment or house that you are really interested in.
Keep calm and carry on
- Don't feel disheartened if you do not get the first few apartments/houses that you have applied for/contacted. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. Perhaps you might need to be more flexible and adjust your search parameters to include accommodation that is slightly further away, has a shorter rental period or something that is unfurnished (if you were looking for furnished accommodation).
Use us - The International Housing Office
- We are here to help you with your housing questions and are glad to do so. We have knowledge of Aarhus and its offerings, and we would like to share these insights with you. It might just be that you wanted to know which area is best to live in if you wanted to live very close to the international school - we can point you in the right direction.
Use our Housing Site
- It's free! Nearly every day we get new offers for rooms, apartments and houses from landlords who are specifically interested in letting out or subletting their accommodation to international researchers or employees.
Use www.boligportal.dk
- It's not so free - but they do have Denmark's largest selection of privately owned accommodation for let or sublet. You can search for all the available accommodation for free, however if you wish to access the contact information of all the landlords you need to pay around 365kr for a two month membership.
