What is Science without Borders?
Science without Borders (SwB) is a large scholarship programme established by the Brazilian government. It covers 18 priority areas within science, technology, engineering and health sciences as well as creative industries.
The goal is to encourage international mobility, and send up to 100.000 students abroad until 2015. Denmark is committed to host up to 700 students.
Science without Borders in Denmark
In Denmark Brazilian candidates can apply for full PhD, Sandwich PhD and PostDoc scholarships in the following modalities:
- Full PhD
The students do a full PhD and obtain their degree at a Danish university. They receive a scholarship for a period of up to 48 months. Candidates should present academic credentials and show potential to pursue advanced studies, in the SWB priority areas - Sandwich PhD
The PhD candidates do research at a Danish university but conclude their thesis in Brazil. They receive a scholarship for a period of up to 12 months with a possibilty to extend this to 24 months. Candidate profiles must be enrolled in a PhD programme in Brazil, qualified to use the opportunity abroad to develop studies in the SWB priority areas - PostDoc
Brazilian PhD degree holders or researchers who wish to further conduct research on a professional level in Denmark may apply for a scholarship through the PostDoc modality. Qualified researchers will receive a scholarship for PostDoc research in one of the programme´s priority areas in Denmark for a period of up to 24 months. Interested researchers should contact a Danish university with a PostDoc vacancy to discuss a research proposal within the relevant SWB priority areas, as well as present their profile and academic achievements within the previously mentioned areas.
