Delegation visit to China

Rector Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen, Dean of ARTS Mette Thunø, Pro-dean of ARTS Jan Ifversen and Vice director of Research and Talent Kristian Thorn have just returned from a delegation visit to China. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relations between Aarhus University and its Chinese partners.

The delegation visited a host of Chinese universities, including the elite university Tsinghua University, whose rector, Gu Binglin, graduated with his PhD from Aarhus University. They can now look forward to increased collaboration after Rector Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen signed a promising agreement covering student exchange, PhD programmes, Summer University and exchange of researchers. Tsinghua University and Peking University are the two strongest universities in China.

Rector Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen was invited as the main speaker to a group of international leaders of universities at the celebration of the university’s 109th anniversary.

A visit to FUDAN University was also on the delegation’s itinerary. Aarhus University is a member of the Nordic Centre Fudan.

At the conclusion of the visit, Rector Lauritz B. Holm-Nielsen was invited to give a speech on the development process at Aarhus University at the annual conference of World-Class Universities in Shanghai.
