Aarhus University holds a collaboration agreement with the prestigious Fudan University in Shanghai, China. The partnership covers student- and staff exchange and academic collaboration.

Aarhus University is a member of the Nordic Centre at Fudan University in China. The objective of the Nordic Centre is to foster mutual understanding between Nordic countries and China through the support of Nordic and Chinese students and researchers so that they can obtain a deeper mutual understanding and knowledge of language, culture and society. This is achieved through exchange programmes, seminars, summer school and research collaboration.

23 Nordic member universities from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden along with Fudan University constitute the Nordic Center.

How may AU-researchers use Nordic Centre FUDAN?
Nordic Centre FUDAN supplies both planning resources, financial resources and offers a working place to researchers from member universities who wish to set up conferences and seminars at Nordic Centre FUDAN.
Researchers may also apply for one-month fellowships at FUDAN University. Apply with the Nordic Centre Coordinator.

COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT

“Chinese Politics in a Globalized World” at the Nordic Centre, Fudan University, Shanghai
27 February – 25 June 2012

The Nordic Centre at Fudan University in Shanghai (www.nordiccentre.org) invites applications for a course on “Chinese Politics in a Globalized World”, to be given for the first time during the spring 2012 semester. The course is developed and organized in cooperation between the Nordic Centre and the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA), Fudan University; Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen; and Department of Political Science and NIAS (Nordic Institute of Asian Studies), Copenhagen University. The course consists of three modules, each module corresponding to 10 ECTS in the European accreditation system, in total 30 ECTS, corresponding to one full semester study:

1) “Chinese Developments in a Globalized World”
2) “Chinese Politics”
3) “Chinese Culture and Language”

The course aims at advanced (4-6 semester) Bachelor students and Master students in political science and social sciences and other relevant fields of study. Module 1 is a joint offer to students at Fudan and students from the Nordic member institutions of the Nordic Centre, while Modules 2 and 3 aim particularly at students from Nordic member institutions. About 20 Fudan-students (for Module 1) and about 20 students from Nordic Centre member institutions (for all three modules) will be admitted to the course.

Tuition fee is NOK 20 000, or alternatively, EUR 2 500. The fee covers tuition, programme activities and excursions and access to facilities at the Nordic Centre. In some cases, students may apply for funding for studies abroad from their state- and home institutions (e.g. in Norway: Statens lånekasse for utdanning).a
