Susanne Bødker appointed new professor in human–computer interaction

Susanne Bødker

Susanne Bødker has been appointed Professor of Human–Computer Interaction at the Department of Computer Science, the University of Aarhus. Professor Bødker (50) studied at the University of Aarhus and graduated with an MSc and a PhD. Her doctoral degree was conferred in 1999.
Professor Bødker conducts research into the interaction between humans and computers. She works mainly with understanding the application properties of computer technology. This is concerned with everything from the placement of computer technology in organisations to IT-supported collaboration and the appropriate configuration of design and application of the small, mobile technologies that are present everywhere. Here she develops theories, methodologies and concepts to understand and design the next generation of IT in everything.
Professor Bødker is internationally recognised for her focus on the fact that humans do not work with technology, but work and collaborate via technology. With this perspective, she has been a prominent driving force in the development of new ways of thinking about human–computer interaction, where she has made particular use of design techniques involving users. She has a special interest in the field of “new ways of working”, where she studies new computer-supported ways of collaborating.
