Aarhus University belongs to the international elite. In two prestigious ranking lists of the world’s best universities, Aarhus University is placed in the top 100 – as no. 63 in the THE QS rankings and no. 93 in the Shanghai List.
The university wishes to combine research in new ways – with new subject areas and across traditional subject borders – in greater depth and in new and unknown fields. Aarhus University offers all types of research from basic, applied and strategic research to research-based advice to the authorities and knowledge transfer.

13 basic research centres at Aarhus University

Aarhus University currently has 13 basic research centres. These are supported by the Danish National Research Foundation for periods of five years. The foundation currently finances a total of 40 centres, a third of which are located at Aarhus University.
