AU RESEARCHER AWARDED THE NOBEL PRIZE

In 1997, Aarhus University had its first Nobel Prize winner.

The prize was awarded to the retired Professor Jens Christian Skou, dr.med. , for describing the sodium-potassium pump (the ion-transporting enzyme Na,K-ATPase). Skou received half of the prize, while the other half was shared between Professor Paul D. Boyer (USA) and Dr John E. Walker (UK).
