World-class education and knowledge dissemination

In an international context, Aarhus University is a large and distinctive educational institution. The university constantly assesses and further develops its offer of degree programmes and makes sure that new degree programmes are developed on an ongoing basis. These meet the requirements of both the outside world and the university’s quality standards, thus ensuring that the next generation is trained to face the challenges of the future. The university offers unique possibilities for subject combinations thanks to its academic diversity. It expects that the number of students applying for its degree programmes will increase in the forthcoming years.

Aarhus University is one of 23 European universities that have been awarded the ECTS label. The seal of quality express that the ECTS system applies to all the more than 100 degree programmes and 4,000 courses at Aarhus University per term. In addition, that all the offers of study programmes are presented and described in both Danish and English on an ongoing basis. Furthermore, that student exchange takes place in compliance with the Bologna Declaration on full recognition of credit transfer from other EU countries. The Bologna Process is a term for the collaboration initiated by the European ministers of education in 1999. The precise aim is to create a European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that enables students to move freely across national borders. Since 2009 this has been the new reality for students at Aarhus University.
