Other Danes (Tomplads)

Admission for other Danish national citizens

Courses with available seats will reopen for applications 1st to 7th May 2017.

If you are not enrolled in a study programme or if you do not wish to have the course transferred to your study programme, you must apply as a 'Tomplads' student. You apply via the online application system. You will be required to pay a participation fee and please be aware that if you are enrolled in a full time study programme you are not allowed to take courses from the same study programme, even though you wish to pay for them.

FAQ for Other Danes

I have a professional Bachelor's degree. Am I qualified to be admitted into a MA level course?

Usually, a professional Bachelor's degree alone does not qualify for a MA level course. However, we do an individual overall assessment of your documentation and further relevant courses and training will be included in the assessment and may qualify you.

Do I have to pay both participation and tuition fee?

No, as a Danish citizen you only have to pay participation fee.

What is included in the participation/tuition fee?

Participation in the AU Summer University course and AU's administrative costs related to your participation are covered by the participation fee.

Please note that books, course material, housing, social programme and meals are not included in the fees and must be paid separately.

I'm not sure that I can provide the necessary documentation until after the application deadline (March 15th). Can I still apply?

You can submit your application in the application system, uploading an empty document instead of your missing documentation (please make a note in the comments that you will be providing the documentation at a later stage). When we check the documents in your application, we will set your application to "incomplete". This will re-open your access to the application allowing you to upload your final documentation when you have it. Also, remember to resubmit your application once you have uploaded the final documentation.

Please note that we cannot guarantee to take any documentation into consideration that is received later than March 15th.

I could actually fit the course into my study programme but there is another course that I would rather include in my degree. Could I pay the fee(s) for this course and have a seperate transcript?

If the course can be part of your study programme (without you applying for a pre-approval) you can only join it as part of your degree.

How are seats for the courses allocated?

Please note that, unless otherwise announced in the course description found in the course catalogue, seats in any given course will be distributed to the following groups in descending order:

  • Aarhus University students from primary program or related education (see course catalogue)
  • Aarhus University students from any other study program
  • Students from other Danish universities applying to take the course as a credit module as well as students  nominated through an exchange agreement or other partnership agreement
  • Freemovers and other Danish applicants (Tomplads)

Within these groups the seats will distributed as described in the course description.

I have been accepted for the chosen course but unfortunately I am not able to attend - can I deregister and get the fee refunded?

As tompladsstuderende you must withdraw from the course at least 4 weeks before the course starts if you want your  fee refunded. After this it is no longer possible to get the fee refunded. Withdrawal must happen by email to summeruniversity@au.dk.
