Courses

AU Summer University consists of a large variety of courses within the fields of Humanities, Theology, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Business.

All courses are taught in English at Bachelor, Master, and PhD level.

You will be able to receive ECTS credits by attending the course and taking the exam.

The portfolio of courses will differ in workload, duration, credits awarded, and level depending on the academic focus area.

Most courses will follow the structure within these terms:

Term 1, 2012
2-20 July (5 ECTS)
2-27 July (10 ECTS)

Term 2, 2012
16 July - 3 August (5 ECTS)
16 July - 10 August (10 ECTS)

Term 3, 2012
30 July - 17 August (5 ECTS)
30 July - 24 August (10 ECTS)

You can only attend one course per term. You can only combine courses in term 1 and 3.

5 ECTS coursed have a workload between 100 - 150 hours of 45 min. depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 2-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 25-30 depending on preparation time and workload, evaluation fomat and academic focus area.
10 ECTS coursed have a workload between 200 - 250 hours of 45 min. depending on academic focus area. Teaching takes place between 3-4 weeks with a total number of contact hours between 50-60 depending on preparation time and workload, evaluation fomat and academic focus area.

New times at au.dk/en

The university’s website is being redesigned. The design and content will therefore change, and you may experience for a while that old and new sections are mixed together, and that the content is not in its usual place.

We hope that the new website will make up for any inconvenience, and that you will enjoy greater coherence throughout and find the website simpler to use.

Why are we making a mess?

In the time ahead, you will notice a mixture of old and new designs in the pages on the website.

In spring 2011, Aarhus University’s nine main academic areas were reduced to four, and the fifty-five departments became twenty-six. This was to unify the organisation and to strengthen the university’s interdisciplinary approach. We are now following suit by restructuring the entire website to ensure more coherence in the content and design.

Such an exercise takes time – and we hope you will bear with us!
