Photography in a New Media Context
ECTS: 10. Level: Bachelor. Date: 5-23 August. Venue: Aarhus.
In 2013, the practice of photography is arguably both accessible and democratic. The prevalence of digital cameras, GPS tracking devices, and camera phones inspires photographers to harness the power of the medium in this new context. This course invites students to conceive of their own photographic project related to their research interest. With each class meeting, students will engage in critiques of each others’ work and constructively converse about visual research. This course will introduce students to the work of researchers and artists who utilize varied methodologies in their photographic practice. Through a combination of creating a photographic project and analyzing a range of visual scholarship, students will receive a hands-on introduction to visual methodologies in practice. Course offered by Department of Aesthetics and Communication. Course description.

Visual Media Production
ECTS: 10. Level: Bachelor. Date: 17 July - 14 August. Venue: Aarhus
The conceptual framework for this course will be a non-formulaic model based on the view that short film storytelling can best be described in terms of opposing properties that balance and complete one another in a dynamic interplay. An approach of this kind is not only more open than the standard sequential and actant models, but also better suited to catching the most common beginner mistakes when short films are produced by student filmmakers. Working in small groups, participants in this hands-on production course will develop a screenplay, shooting script and storyboard for a short fiction film, carry out such other pre-production tasks as casting and location scouting, and then shoot and edit their films. Course offered by Department of Aesthetics and Communication. Course description.
