Key pick up and guided tour in town
On your very first day in Aarhus we recommend this guided tour through the local jungle of attractions and secret spots. On the tour you will get an introduction to the city and hear about the history of the old Viking city, Aarhus. We will end the tour in the city hall tower where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire city.

Information day and guided tours on campus
As newly arrived to Aarhus University we will welcome you with practical information and a tour in the beautiful University Park so you can get to know your way around campus.

Meeting point: International Centre, Høegh-Guldbergs Gade 4, bldg. 1650

Aarhus by night
This night you will be introduced to some of the best places for a night out in Aarhus while getting to know other Summer University students. First, we will dine together at a restaurant downtown and then we will complete the evening by having a drink or two at the cafés by the riverside.

Djurs Sommerland
In Djurs Sommerland, which is an amusement park the size of 65 soccer fields, you will find more than 60 exciting attractions. These include Europe's biggest water coaster and Denmark's biggest and fastest roller coaster, which was voted the world's sixth best roller coaster in 2010. Get ready for a whole day of fun with your new friends where you can go both swimming in the large aqua park or ride the roller coasters again and again and...!

The Kingdom of Denmark
Denmark is the oldest kingdom in the world. Tonight we will introduce you to the royal family (well, maybe not in person) and the inhabitants of this ancient monarchy. You will get a glimpse of the greatness and history of former monarchs and Denmark’s path to democracy, welfare and happiness – you did know that the Danes are the happiest people in the world, right?

Food and one drink included.

11 July

Get Segway’d
Ever tried this balance controlled two-wheeled racer? After a short introduction where you will learn the basics for riding the Segway, you can either start out on one of the easy routes or challenge yourself on a more difficult one. There are plenty of opportunities in SegWorld’s 6000-m2 rolling landscape.

Horserace
This afternoon we will go to the local racetrack. Bring your new friends and feel the special race day atmosphere, be at the front row for the exiting home straight, and visit the stables for a closer look at the horses. If you feel for it, you can take a chance and bet on your favorite horse. Maybe you will bring some well-earned money in your pocket!

A sandwich, one drink, and a round of betting is also included.

Canoeing trip
This day you can experience the wonderful landscapes of the Silkeborg lakes as we go canoeing down the Gudenåen, one of the most beautiful Danish rivers. No prior experience is required so "paddle up" and join us for a scenic adventure and a good work out.

23 July

Traditional Danish cakes and folk dance
Search for “Danish” on Google’s images, and you’ll get an idea about how popular Danish pastry is. This is not a good day to start on a diet but after the feast you will be able to get some exercise by trying out the traditional Danish folk dance. After a few instructions in how to dance, it is time to ask the girls for a dance :-)

24 July

Visit the Old Town
The Old Town is an open-air museum for city culture in Aarhus. The Old Town is an old market city within the city. We will take a guided tour through the streets that will bring us 300 years back in time and give an insight in the daily life at that time. The Old Town is very life-like and you will get a chance to see how the old professions worked.

4 August

Visit to Ribe and the Wadden Sea
Ribe is the oldest city in Denmark and can be dated back to the Viking Age around 710 AD. Ribe is best known for its special atmosphere and the majestic cathedral. This day we will go on a guided tour around the streets of the old market town. Afterwards we will go to the Wadden Sea. This area is characterized by the low marshland that often gets flooded and thereby creates a harsh, but still unique habitat for a varied birdlife.

11 August

Scandinavian Animal Park
You will not experience much wild life in Aarhus. To make up for that, we have arranged a trip to Scandinavian Animal Park where you will get the chance to see the Nordic species in their great natural surroundings. So come along and take a closer look at the polar bear and its two cubs, the wolf, which is back in the Danish nature after a 200 year absence, and all the other great mammals known from the Nordic fauna.

13 August

BBQ and games in Mindeparken
Enjoy a summer evening in the beautiful Mindeparken. The park is a memorial park for the Danish soldiers killed during World War I, and the nearby Marselisborg Palace, which is the summer residence for The Queen of Denmark. With a view of the ocean we will enjoy a nice BBQ and afterwards we will play some outdoor games and enjoy the long and light summer evening.

14 August

Visit to ARoS Art Museum
The new symbol of Aarhus, the permanent work of art called 'Your Rainbow Panorama', is created on top of the ARoS Art Museum. From the rainbow you can get a panoramic view of the city in all the colors of the rainbow. ARoS Art Museum also offers both collections of Danish Golden Age paintings, contemporary art, and exciting, international exhibitions. This day we will get a guided tour of the museum with focus on the Danish Golden Age.

21 August

Disc Golf
Disc golf is a mix of frisbee and golf. This afternoon we will take you to Aarhus’ newly-opened 9-hole pitch. No prior experience is needed for this sport as long as you are willing to have to fun and a friendly competition with your fellow students.
