Are you interested in how technology can affect different aspects of human behavior? Do you have a technical background and you want to expand your knowledge on human-computer interaction? Are you interested in adding research activities and publications in your CV? Then, the multidisciplinary project “Innovative and Emerging Technologies in Education” (I&ETE) may be of interest to you.

The I&ETE project aims at exploring the ways in which the different learning affordances offered by innovative and emerging technologies can be meaningfully and efficiently integrated into an educational context. For this position, the focus is on different types of interfaces (e.g., graphic, haptic, touch, tangible) and on how they can be combined to promote enhanced learning experiences. The range of technologies in focus spans from microcontrollers (e.g., ArduinoRaspberry Pimicrobit) to robots and sensors. Most of the technologies in mind are either programmable or completely open source, inviting users to extend their functionality. As such, from a technology point of view, the candidate will not focus only on using off-the-self solutions into the classroom, but also on combining, extending, and developing new technologies for education.

As a member of our project group, you will have the opportunity to participate in conducting studies, publishing research outcomes in international conferences and journals, and traveling.

Your duties
As a member of the I&ETE project group, you will work primarily as a Python programmer for education tools and assist in the respective research activities organized. Specifically, your duties will include:
  • Programming in Python
  • Collecting and exporting research data (as log files, cvs, etc.)
  • Assisting in analyzing and reporting research data (for research dissemination activities)
Additionally, required skills include proficiency in English, advanced communicative and collaborative skills, and open-mindedness. Experience with quantitative research methods (e.g., SPSS) will be evaluated positively.
