Technician for air quality engineering at Department of Engineering, Aarhus University 959311

The Department of Engineering at Aarhus University are currently expanding the team of researchers and technical staff. The 'air quality engineering' group and 'the fluid dynamics and building ventilation' group conducts research on gaseous emissions (ammonia, odour and greenhouse gases) related to livestock production and how to control this. In connection to this, the Department of Engineering seeks a technician to contribute to development and management of experimental facilities as well as executing and documenting experimental tests. The position is permanent and the place of work is in Foulum. The position is available as soon as possible.

Department of Engineering has a strategic focus on air quality engineering and building ventilation. Animal production will undoubtedly expand widely globally the coming decades. Denmark is a pioneer country for low-energy and low gaseous emissions livestock production. In order to ensure Denmark to be in front in the area and to contribute to the global sustainable livestock production with less impact on the surrounding environment, the Department of Engineering has a strong focus on this research area.

The chosen candidate will play an active role in developing applied research within air quality engineering research at Aarhus University. The candidate will be a part of a dedicated team working with air physics, building ventilation, land application technologies, abatement technologies for animal facilities and emissions from experimental and full-scale facilities. The main tasks for the technician will be to develop experimental facilities including indoor thermal environments, air quality, gas measurements techniques for ammonia and chemical odorants, management of experimental facilities and data collection and handling, and secondly, contribute to project management tasks of experimental planning and communication with researchers and industry.    

Qualification requirements
The ideal candidate has an education as agricultural technician or similar and experience with experimental work in agricultural applications and gas measurement techniques for ammonia and chemical odorants.
Qualification requirements:
  • Agricultural technician or equivalent.
  • Experience with experimental work and gas measurement techniques in agricultural applications
  • Structured and systematic approach to experiments and data handling
  • Some command of Danish is preferred in order to communicate with external contractors etc.
  • An open mind and good communications skills
