Part-time Senior Researcher at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy 1008065

The Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy (CFA) at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a senior researcher position within research policy analysis. The senior researcher position is a part-time and permanent position starting on 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible afterwards. Subject to mutual agreement, the part-time position can be from 20-50% of a full-time position.

Research at CFA is broadly concerned with research -, innovation -, and higher education policy with emphasis on empirical studies. The current research portfolio at CFA includes projects on quality in research and higher education, measurement and contextualization of research performance and impact, research funding, innovation policy, research integrity, gender equality in science, responsible research and innovation (RRI), quantitative studies of science, and development of indicators for research, innovation, and higher education.

In addition to research activities, CFA contributes to broader knowledge sharing and capacity building related to research -, innovation -, and higher education policy by providing research-based advice to public authorities. CFA performs commissioned evaluations, analyses and impact studies at Danish, Nordic, and European level, thus contributing to evidence-based policy making. Job description
The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the research environment at CFA. The primary tasks are research (including the obligation of publication/scientific communication) as well as research-based public sector consultancy. Responsibilities include acquiring and leading research projects and commissioned studies, collegial supervision, student guidance, and academic assessment work.

Applicants must possess research qualifications corresponding to those obtained after successful completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor, but equivalent academic qualifications may also be accepted. Applicants typically have 3-8 years of research experience after completion of their PhD.

Applicants are expected to have a well-documented international research profile with emphasis on innovative contributions in high standard, peer-reviewed publications. At least three to five articles published or accepted for publication in high standard, international, peer-reviewed journals or fewer articles but also a book published with an internationally recognized publisher is expected. A significant part must have been produced after finishing the PhD degree. Emphasis will be put on recent productivity and take into account the number of years at present academic level. Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to carry out independent research.

Applicants are also expected to have some experience in research management and in research-based public sector consultancy. Experiences in performing commissioned studies and providing advice to public authorities in the area of research-, innovation-, and higher education policy carries weight.

It is required that non-Danish speakers within a short period (3 years as a maximum) acquire a reasonable knowledge of Danish. If necessary, the department will grant time off from other obligations to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

Position content
The position of senior researcher is a position whose primary tasks are research (including the obligation of publication/scientific communication) as well as research-based public sector consultancy. In addition, teaching to some extent. In addition, undertaking research management, student guidance and supervision of assistant professors and researchers, and academic assessment work.

Terms of employment
The appointment is in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State.
