The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University invites applications for assistant professorship positions in one of the following fields:

#1: Industrial engineering, supply chain management and operations
#2: Engineering management and business aspects of modern engineering
#3: Processes of engineering management: projects, quality and compliance
#4: Mechanical or mechatronic engineering emphasising CAD and physics

An assistant professorship is a fixed-term three-year position. The starting date is 1 March 2019 or as agreed upon.

Job description
The Department of Business Development and Technology is dedicated to excellence in technology-driven business development as well as core business disciplines and offers study programmes in these fields.

We are looking for eminent candidates who can strengthen our research profile. A significant part of our research work involves business partners, and thus, it is paramount that the candidate conducts research on topics that are relevant to modern companies. Candidates with research activities involving industry will be preferred.

The applicant is expected to teach and supervise students at bachelor’s and master’s degree level. Our study programmes in engineering include an MSc in Technology Based Business Development (cand.polyt.) and two bachelor degree programmes: Business Development Engineer (BDE) and Global Management and Manufacturing (GMM). Applicants with solid experience within problem-based learning will be preferred.

Qualification requirements
Applicants for an assistant professorship should hold a PhD or equivalent academic qualifications.

Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is linked to businesses and society. The description could describe concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.

Non-Danish speakers are required to attain reasonable knowledge of the Danish language. The department will grant time off from department activities to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

The Department of Business Development and Technology is part of Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University – a top 100 university. Aarhus BSS – and specifically the Department of Business Development and Technology – has achieved the distinguished AASCB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditations.

BTECH is located in the business-oriented and entrepreneurial city of Herning. The department excels in business and engineering disciplines and pays particular attention to company collaborations. We have around 1,800 students and close to 100 faculty and staff. In 2017, approximately 450 students were involved in company projects in more than 250 companies ranging from SMEs to leading globals. Our incubator Business Factory launched 19 new companies in 2017.

We influence society through business development and technology. For this reason, many research projects are conducted in close collaboration with industry based on new data and new technologies. These projects are generously supported by H2020, the Danish Research Council and the Danish Industry Foundation, among others.

Terms of employment The appointment is in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State.
