Senior Researcher in Wetland Biogeochemistry 911351

Department for Bioscience, Aarhus University, Silkeborg (Jutland), is inviting applications for a senior researcher position in Wetland biogeochemistry. The position is available from September 1, 2017, or as soon as possible hereafter.

Applicants should be dedicated to take part in our interdisciplinary research integrating biology, hydrology, ecology, and biogeochemistry across aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The senior researcher should have a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications within wetland biogeochemistry. Furthermore, the candidate should have a strong international scientific network and a proven record as principal investigator (PI) on wetland research projects related to biogeochemical processes, matter fluxes and nutrient dynamics in aquatic systems concerning the cycle of phosphorus, nitrogen, carbon, sulphur, and iron. We expect the applicants to have a proven record of research experience within restoration of different types of wetlands and riparian areas and knowledge about technological solutions for mitigation of agricultural nitrogen and phosphorus emissions from fields utilizing constructed wetlands, intelligent bufferzones, etc.

The successful candidate shall participate in teaching in wetland courses and take part in the consultancy of Danish authorities within wetland restoration and use of new mitigation technologies as constructed wetlands.

Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.
Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
