2-year assistant professor position at the Department of Mathematics, Aarhus University 932637

A 2-year assistant professor position is open from August 2018 or earlier at the Department of Mathematics, Aarhus University. The workplace will be at the Centre for Quantum Geometry of Moduli Spaces (QGM).

The successful candidates should have a PhD degree related to one of the fol-lowing areas: algebraic topology, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, quantum topology, quantum algebra, Riemann surface theory, gauge theory, Berezin-Toeplitz quantization or mathematical aspects of Quantum Field Theory and String Theory or related disciplines. Further, he/she should have obtained strong results in one of these areas of research.

The successful applicant will take part in all aspects of a university position, including research, fund raising and administration.

The applicant is expected to take actively part in teaching at all levels and supervision of students at bachelor, master's and PhD level.

Applicants should have a strong record of original scientific research at a high international level. Applicants are also expected to document their experience with all facets of university teaching and supervision.

QGM focuses on various aspects of quantization of moduli spaces of various structures on low dimensional manifolds with the view to provide complete mathematical models and to study such models for a number of quantum field theories. Many parts of algebra and geometry are involved in this project.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.
Formalities and salary range

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
