The current postdoc project will focus on unravelling the movement patterns of Northern vertebrates, its linkages to environmental drivers and its ecological effects. Several data sets are available from both the terrestrial and marine environments, and from both mammals and birds. The postdoc is free to contribute his/her own ideas and concepts to the project but is expected to lead at least two high-quality papers in the main research area. In addition, the candidate is expected to collaborate with other team members, including students, sharing skills, and helping solve problems in her/his area of expertise. This is a full-time (37 h/week), fully funded position for a fixed term of 2 years.

Qualifications and Specific Competences:
Applicants must have PhD degree in ecology, or equivalent, or have submitted their PhD thesis for assessment before the application deadline. Experience with analysis of animal movement data (e.g. location and biologger data) is a requirement, and some background in behavioral ecology is an advantage. Strong skills in statistical and ecological modeling are critical, hereunder solid experience with R. The successful candidate is also expected to have good collaborative skills and proven abilities to publish at a high international level. International applicants who do not have English as their first language must prove strong English language writing skills and fluency.

This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self.
