Postdoc in Software for Smart Products

We are seeking applicants for a 2,5 year postdoc in software for smart products to join us at the Department of Engineering.

The position is available from 1st of January 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Job description/research project/research area

You are expected to contribute to both the MADE Digital project in the work package about “Smart Industrial Products” which is funded by Innovation Foundation Denmark and aimed at exploring the consequences of manufacturing smart industrial products as well as a project on Smart Industry supported jointly by the EU Regional Development Fund and  the region of Central Denmark, which is aimed at assisting SMEs with increasing their own opportunities for introducing “smartness” inside the products and/or services. The successful candidate will be involved in interdisciplinary collaborations with both national partners as well as internally with other researchers from the software engineering research group.

Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in computer science or computer engineering or relevant.

We are seeking candidates with a background in software engineering. A strong background in the development of tools supporting computer-based languages as well as formal modelling notations such as VDM is desired. It would be advantageous if the candidate has knowledge about some of the tools developed at the software engineering research group at Aarhus University (e.g., Overture, Crescendo, Symphony and INTO-CPS).

In addition, it is an advantage if the candidate has:

•    Significant publication experience
•    An ability to work as part of a team
•    An ability to talk with stakeholders from Danish SMEs

Who we are/ The department

The Engineering Department,, within the faculty of science and technology (ST) Denmark promotes and develops Engineering research and education at Aarhus University. The Department undertakes engineering research and education within classical engineering disciplines (Mechanical, IT, civil and architectural, Chemical and biotechnology) in close collaboration with other departments at ST and the School of Engineering at ST. Department of Engineering offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with many national and international collaborators in science and industry.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
