The Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy (CFA) at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for two or more postdoc / assistant professor positions.

The postdoc positions are fixed-term three-year positions. The assistant professor positions can be either fixed-term three-year positions or open-ended tenure-track positions with a tenure review and transfer to senior researcher or associate professorship contingent on positive assessment before the end of the fifth year of employment. Research at CFA is broadly concerned with research -, innovation -, and higher education policy with emphasis on empirical studies. The current research portfolio at CFA includes projects on quality in research and higher education, measurement and contextualization of research performance and impact, research funding, innovation policy, research integrity, gender equality in science, responsible research and innovation (RRI), quantitative studies of science, and development of indicators for research, innovation, and higher education.

In addition to research activities, CFA contributes to broader knowledge sharing and capacity building related to research -, innovation -, and higher education policy by providing research-based advice to public authorities. CFA performs commissioned evaluations, analyses and impact studies at Danish, Nordic, and European level, thus contributing to evidence-based policy making. Job description
The successful applicants are expected to contribute significantly to CFA’s research and consultancy activities. They will participate in concrete projects under the supervision of senior colleagues, but may also to a limited extent carry out independent research activities. Postdocs will have very limited teaching obligations, while assistant professors will be engaged in teaching activities at the Department of Political Science and are expected to follow the teacher training programme at Aarhus University.

Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in a social science discipline such as political science or sociology, or in an interdisciplinary research field such as ‘research evaluation’, ‘higher education studies’, ‘science and innovation policy’, ‘information science’ or ‘science, technology and society’ or have equivalent academic qualifications.

Applicants should have excellent research qualifications and be able to document scientific production relating to the areas of research, innovation and higher education analysis. While it is not a requirement, it is beneficial if the applicant has relevant experience within one of the following priority areas:
•    Quality in higher education
•    Quantitative studies of science (bibliometric/scientometric analysis) and quantitative analysis of research performance.
•    Responsible Research and Innovation
•    Gender in science
Applicants should also preferably have experience with cross-national research collaboration, and should be interested in conducting evaluation and consultancy tasks commissioned by public authorities. Previous teaching experience is considered an asset but not a requirement. Applicants should demonstrate extensive experience with empirical research, possess strong skills in quantitative or qualitative methods, and have an excellent command of spoken and written English. In order to work with CFAs advanced databases, applicants with a profile in ‘quantitative studies of science’ are expected to have strong technical skills in relation to data handling.
